Sara Shulman is the Founder & Editor of Comedy Blogedy, TEDxUCL speaker on ‘The Power of Funny’, blogger for The Huffington Post and specialist comedy blogger for Ticketmaster. Sara is a Classics graduate from University College London and has a Diploma from the National Film & Television School in Writing and Producing Comedy.

Whilst at university, Sara was Head of Comedy at UCLU Rare FM from 2011-2012 and performed stand-up on the circuit. She also started interviewing comedians for her podcast ‘Humour Me’, which is currently broadcast on the Comedy Blogedy SoundCloud channel and the UCL SoundCloud channel.

Sara has also been running comedy gigs in London, such as PLEB Talks and Humour Me: Live!  as well as co-founding and co-promoting ‘Specialist Subject: Where No Joke Is Too Niche’ – a gig where comedians perform sets on topics they’re particularly nerdy about.

Sara produces short films including a multi-award winning and nominated short silent comedy film called ‘SWAG’ written by David Elms, directed by Matt Holt and a short scripted comedy drama called ’10 Questions’, written and directed by Daniel Audritt, starring Orry Gibbens and Helen Duff. More information about the film. 

In May 2015, Comedy Blogedy worked in partnership with Angel Comedy to bring Second City to the UK. They taught improv for 2 weeks and performed every night at the Angel Comedy Improv Festival with some of the best improvisers in the UK – the first time in Second City’s history! This initiative was featured in national publications, such as The Times, The Guardian, The Evening Standard, TimeOut. More information here.

Sara has been on the panel for several national stand-up competitions and awards including the Chortle Awards, the NATYS, the Musical Comedy Awards, Tickled Pig Student Competition, Up The Creek One To Watch, London SketchFest New Act Competition and was a scout for the Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Awards from 2012 – 2014.

Sara has worked in Entertainment Development at several production companies. In 2015, Sara set up the Scripted Comedy Development department at Wall to Wall (part of Warner Bros. TV UK) where she developed new comedy shows with some of the best new and established comedy writers and performers.

Sara also works with several comedians as a director and script editor for their material.

In short, Sara loves comedy and is hugely passionate about championing and supporting comedy talent.
