The AmusedMoose Laughter Awards 2013, the ‘senior strand’ of the AmusedMoose Comedy Awards supported by 2entertain, has launched – searching for the best show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival from undiscovered talent, whether emerging or overlooked.
The winner of the AMLA 2013 for best show will receive £5000 towards the development of their comedy career, a commercial standard promotional DV filmed at Soho Theatre, potential DVD deal, extensive promotional development ppporutnities and, of course, a Shiny Moose trophy.
The AmusedMoosed Laughter Award was won by the magnificent Tony Law in 2011 and sauve comedy creation Marcel Lucont in 2012. Following his victory, Tony Law toured widely, including a sell-out run at the prestigious Soho Theatre, made a memorable appearance on the iconic BBC show ‘Never Mind The Buzzcocks’ and was recognized as ‘Best Breakthrough Act’ at the Chortle Awards.
To qualify for entry, shows must be listed in the comedy section of the 2012 Edinburgh Fringe programme/website (www.edfringe.com) for at least 18 dates and performers may not have a current DVD deal or option. Entries close on 4th August, by which time a filmed preview of the entered show must have been uploaded for viewing by the AMLA industry panel.
The ten shows selected by the illustrious comedy industry panel (both online and live at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival) as the ‘Top Ten’ Fringe comedy shows, will perform a 10 minute excerpt during the final at City Edinburgh nightclub on the afternoon on 18th August.
