The Spirit of the Fringe is coming to Camden for the first weekend of July. ARGComFest (An Actually Rather Good Comedy Festival) is returning in expanded form after last year’s successful festival in King’s Cross which included four of the six nominees for the Edinburgh Comedy Award 2012!
On Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th July, there will be THIRTY-TWO full-length previews of the finest shows heading up to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, in two rooms at the Barfly in Camden.
Festival Producer James Lowey said, “After the success that ARGComFest acts had in Edinburgh last year, I like to think of it as the breeding ground for the next stars. Four of last year’s acts were nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Award – and another went on to be nominated for the Barry Award in Melbourne. These final previews enable them to add the final polish to their show. It would be a lot easier to come and see them at ARGComFest this July than trying to get tickets in the Autumn!”
The excellent line-up includes 2012 Edinburgh Comedy Award nominees: James Acaster, Tony Law, Joe Lycett, and David Trent, as well as other respected acts: Josh Widdicombe (Channel 4’s The Last Leg), Bridget Christie (BBC R4 News Quiz), Mitch Benn (BBC R4’s The Now Show), Sara Pascoe (Live At The Apollo), Edward Aczel, Mae Martin (Russell Howard’s Good News), Michael Legge, Colin Hoult, Nick Helm, Brian Gittins, and Max & Ivan (2013 Barry Award nominees).
In addition to these well-known names, there will be many superb up-and-coming comedians such as the latest winner of So You Think You’re Funny? Aisling Bea, Tom Rosenthal, Nat Luurtsema (BBC3 Live At The Electric), Nish Kumar, Jessica Fostekew, Birthday Girls, Liam Williams, John Kearns, Stuart Laws, Kieran Hodgson, Chris Boyd.
Comperes include Matthew Crosby and Tom Parry of Pappy’s (BBC3’s Badults) and Thom Tuck (BBC R4’s Thom Tuck Goes Straight to DVD).
Further acts to be announced.
