Comedy double act The Gentlemen of Leisure will be performing an all new, site specific show at the British Museum – a hilarious, cultural and novel insight into some of the world’s most famous artifacts.
The Gents will lead a guided tour of the museum, bringing their trademark combination of light hearted silliness and drum-tight writing to one of the capitals most beloved cultural centres.
The comedic duo will explore some of the Museum’s best known attractions with reverence, care and a healthy amount of ill informed rambling. The tour will be family friendly, respectful in tone and be extremely silly, as you would expect from two idiots attempting to examine thousands of years of history in just twenty minutes.
The Gentlemen of Leisure’s tour of The British Museum is the first event of its kind in the world, and hopefully won’t be the last.
The Gentlemen Of Leisure
The Gentlemen of Leisure (the old GOL) consist of Nish Kumar and Tom Neenan, two young men who devour books and drink paint. These pillars of the Parthenon of culture invite you to join them as they seek out fine arts, fine living and fine-r things. The Gentlemen first wrote and performed together whilst at university, as members of the critically acclaimed Durham Revue. Edinburgh veterans and circuit regulars, the old GOL are one of the most talented and intelligent acts in the UK.
Nish Kumar is a regular on the stand-up comedy circuit, having earned a reputation for being ‘one of the most exciting comedians around’ – Josie Long.
Tom Neenan is a regular writer for BBC radio comedy, having most recently written on The News Quiz, The Now Show and Newsjack.
In the next year, Monster Comedy will be doing two things: raising money for deserving causes through regular comedy nights and putting on ad hoc innovative comedy events, just for the fun of it all.
