Comedy Blogedy:How long have you been gigging in stand-up?
Sam Golin: Since the end of April 2012
Comedy Blogedy: How would you describe your comedy?
Sam Golin: Chatty
Comedy Blogedy: Which comedians influence your comedy?
Sam Golin: Patrice O’Neal
Comedy Blogedy: Did you always want to go into comedy?
Sam Golin: Not Stand-up originally but in some way.
Comedy Blogedy:How do you go about writing your material?
Comedy Blogedy: Normally by doing an open mic with a few subjects to talk about and seeing what happens
Comedy Blogedy: Do you gig as a stand-up full time or is it more of a part-time hobby? If so, do you find that your main job influences your material?
Sam Golin: I’m a student, I’m on the open mics full time. I haven’t found anything funny about being a student yet.
Comedy Blogedy: What do you find the most enjoyable and frustrating parts of the amateur comedy circuit?
Sam Golin:I love seeing some of the weirdest shit I’ve ever got to see in my life. Frustrating is being on last at an open mic with an audience full of other open micers.
Comedy Blogedy: What’s your favourite type of audience to perform to?
Sam Golin: I like a confident audience, I feel guilty talking to shy people.
Comedy Blogedy: Have you been heckled a lot since you’ve started gigging? Do you enjoy being heckled? What’s the best heckle you’ve had?
Sam Golin: I get heckled a healthy amount maybe 1 in 5 gigs. Mostly people participate though.
Comedy Blogedy:What advice would you give to new acts thinking about starting out in comedy?
Sam Golin: Be nice to people, unless you’re Doug Stanhope. Then don’t be nice to people.
