After storming the UK and international comedy circuits for years (and much badgering from fellow professionals) Yorkshire man, marathon runner and former (double award-winning) Time Out Comedian of the Year PAUL TONKINSON takes to the road, with his eagerly anticipated debut tour.
A sensational live performer, with a reputation as one of the finest stand-ups around, audiences across the UK can now encounter the full Tonkinson phenomenon; a master of physicality and impressions with a plethora of first class material brought to life with tremendous charm and infectious energy. FANCY MAN will feature the signature stellar routines that have earned Tonkinson his esteemed reputation. Expect explosive, exuberant, tender comic reflections on love, food, family and the day-to-day idiosyncrasies of early 21st century living.
On TV, he’s most recently appeared on BBC One’s Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow and Comedy Central’s The Comedy Store and The World Stands Up. He was recently a contestant on the hit show Celebrity Come Dine With Me (Channel 4) proving he’s not just a dazzling stand-up talent, but a whizz in the kitchen, scooping first place to win the cash prize for charity. Back in the day, when he was a mere whippersnapper he had a stint presenting The Big Breakfast (Channel 4) and he has also presented radio shows on XFM in London and Manchester.
His first love has always been stand-up, and Tonkinson remains in great demand across the globe, performing at all the major international comedy festivals including the prestigious Montreal Just For Laughs festival where he was recently invited to host the esteemed Britcom Gala. He is a regular entertainer for the UK Armed Forces, and has performed in Afghanistan and Iraq; playing to 2,500 troops in 45 degree heat in the middle of the desert. Closer to home, he has regularly joined Michael McIntyre as his special guest on live shows across the UK.
