CB: What is your show about?
TS: Brexit unleashed a swarm of racism. A lunatic got in the White House. And somehow politicians everywhere lost their shit. In twelve months our institutions of power went from the Doctor Strangelove war room, to the custard pie scene from Bugsy Malone, except it’s not custard it’s shit… and the shit is only landing on poor people. If you’ve been watching this chaos, trying to put it into words… my show is those words.
CB: Why did you write this show?
TS: It’s what I do. I don’t back down. I kick bullshit in balls, till jokes fall out of it’s arse. And then I gather them up, and take them to the Fringe. Or something equally bombastic
CB: What comedians and comedy writers have impacted the way you write your show structures and material?
TS: I’ve never looked to other comics for style and structure really, that’s all mine. But I am inspired by the intelligence, tenacity, courage, and the sheer f**k you attitude of the greats. They all have that.
CB: What is your advice for new comedians and writers who want to write their first show?
TS: Just write it, go for it, get involved… I mean it’ll be shit. Of course it will, but that’s how you get better. Trust me, nobody is good straight away.
Tiff Stevenson will perform her show Bombshell at the Edinburgh Festival.
